King Kamehameha Day & Winners Announced!!!

Happy King Kamehameha Day! Points to whoever can pronounce that.  Well, actually, anyone can pronounce it...it probably just won't be correct. Apparently, King Whoosiewhatsits, I mean Kamehameha, was the first king of Hawaii, and this merits his own holiday. I bet if I were king of Hawaii, they wouldn't give me a holiday--actually that wouldn't work. Never mind.

Well, that's almost never good.

Oooh, going along with the general theme of doom (just kidding!), The WFTH Contest Winners Have Been Announced!

1st Prize (WFTH T-shirt): simplyamusing!
2nd Prize (truffles, Footnotes, pencil): Tassel!
3rd Prize (random candy bar): Julie K!

I will e-mail y'alls regarding prize-giving-out! Thanks again, and congrats!

Thank you to all who entered and all who kept reading WFTH even though there were annoying Blogger comment-y issues! Have a fabulous day! :D

...anyway, today's Words are from the Conversations category. My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :D

Person 1: "We need to have daily back rubs. Where we all sit in a circle."
Person 2: "We need to have daily foot rubs."
Person 3: "Ew."
Person 4: "I'm gonna stay home sick that day."
Person 2: "They're daily foot rubs. Daily means every day."
Person 4: "I'm gonna stay home sick next year." Good plan.

Person 1: "They have study guides, and th--you have something growing on your shoulder."
Person 2: "Um, yeah. I got an elephant because I got a 100 in math class. I'm pretty stoked about it."
Person 1: "Oh yeah, well my elephant says..."
Person 3: "He's better."
Person 1: "He's better." Oh, this is very Physics-related. I'm just trying to figure out the physics of how he has an elephant on his shoulder but is still somehow sitting upright. I thought their crushing mass...never mind.

***

Person 1: "Yesterday I was talking to worms."
Person 2: "You were talking to worms?"
Person 1: "Yeah, I was, like, [high-pitched] 'rr-rrr-rrr-rrrr'!"
Person 2: "Is that worm language, then?"
Person 1: "Yeah." Well how nice for you...It's astonishing how much I don't care.

***

Person 1: "What's that?"
Person 2: "A moaning walrus." Duh.

National Yo-Yo Day!

Happy National Yo-Yo Day!! Be sure to listen to the famous instrumentalist Yo-Yo Ma. I'm pretty sure that's what this is referring to. Maybe. Also I think there's some kind of round toy with the same name. But that's probably not important.

Anyway, today's quotes are from the category of Say What? My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :)

"Rainbow education?" But of course! One must be able to learn the difference between, for example, rainbows with leprechaun gold, and rainbows with mere pirate gold. Or rainbows near unicorns, or far from them and near narwhals instead. Surely you understand the importance.

"Guess I'll go ahead and play my book flute." Ummmm, yeah. You do that.

"Oh yeah, you're a golden retriever that turns into a goose!" How could you forget?! I've spent my whole life training to become the most revered gooseden retreiver the world has ever known! Oh, I'm so offended.

"Trevor, you are a perfect mermaid." I'm pretty sure that's not an insult...? ...maybe?

National Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day!

Happy National Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie Day! That's so exciting! And complicated! Have fun celebrating, and good luck on knowing what rhubarb is because while I'm sure it's something delicious, it just sounds like it's made out of paper or something. But that's just me.

Random picture of the day:

I am really kind of disturbed by this. Also, where did she even get the random gorilla head? Did she just find it in her house somewhere? That's somehow even more disturbing.

Anyway, today's quotes are from the Fairly Mean category. My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :D

"At first, I was, like, 'Aw. She was slighted and now she's crazy with grief.' No. She's just frikkin' crazy!" Ah, yes. There's a fine, fine line. And she is about fifty feet away from it.

"Hi, I'm Nick Bison...and a fun fact about me? One of my greatest aspirations is to fight a bear [brandishes fists], kill it, and wear its pelt as a coat. First day of school next year." Ummm. See, that's not so much a 'fun fact' as 'completely insane.' I know there's not much difference, but still.

"I don't care if you're feeding 100 children in Africa! Get ready for class!" I bet the 100 children care.

"Sorry that you're always on fire!" Me too.

World Ocean Day!

Hello, all! Happy World Ocean Day! It may surprise you to know this, but in this world...*dramatic pause*...there are oceans. *gasp!* That is all. Thank you for hearing this brief news update.

Secondary news update: well, I typed it once. Look up above you, beneath the title and site description, but above regular posts. Yellow font. Contest update. Thank you. (I am extremely sorry for the brevity, but tonight I am planning on watching Doctor Who and I'm watching Season One for the first time and it is incredibly epic so I would like to commence as soon as possible. Tassel, Corinne, simplyamusing, the.corner.chair, I'm sure you'll understand. ;D)

Random picture of the day:

This is the story of my life. Not really. I would actually be really disappointed with my life if this picture described the entire thing. For example, you will notice no towers of Hogwarts nor time-travelling TARDISes (as if there are more than one) in the background. Or foreground, for that matter. Sadness.

Anyway, today's quotes are from the Random Roulette Wheel category. My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :D

"You have to go somewhere so I can stalk you, Chase, you can't just sit there!" Oh. Sor-ree.

"Setting someone on fire isn't exactly your idea of fun." Um, yes it is! Where are you getting your faulty information? I'll set them on FIRE!!!! Mwahahahaha!!!! Mwaha--okay, I'm good.

"This is about a bird. Or is it about a football team?" Yes.

"And apparently African Diarrhea Bird was hanging around my truck today..." Okay, I never, never needed to know that. Just sayin'.

Festival of Popular Delusions Day!

Happy Festival Of Popular Delusions Day! To celebrate, I have decided that we all need to celebrate a delusion about me, since I'm extremely popular. So this will qualify for all the categories. So we are all celebrating a delusion that I have just been nominated Supreme Waffle of All The Earth and won. Yes, I have actually been nominated. The delusion is that I've won--there are just so many other wonderful and more visually waffle-like (mainly, square-including) candidates, ya know? Well, anyway. Have a wonderful Festival Of Popular Delusions Day! And also National Gingerbread Day.

I...don't even know.

Anyway, today's Words are from the Fairly Mean category. My comments are in italics! Enjoy! :)

"You have a head? Wow. Impressive." Especially considering all the effort I took to decapitate each member of the school I came across in the last few days...oooh, did I say that out loud? Whoopsies!

"Yeah, I tried to suffocate him with my shoe." Again.

"I can see your laziness emanating from you." Oh, so that's what those slug-shaped green wavelengths coming out of your head are. I was beginning to wonder!

"I sold my friend's socks." But that's okay because he won't need them after being suffocated with other forms of footwear. 'Sall good!
